Business Communication Skills for ‘English as a Foreign Language’ Speakers

English as Foreign Language (EFL) speakers struggle to communicate and present their ideas to others as they are often misunderstood.  This presents a challenge for the international English speaker since speaking skills are the most difficult of all language skills to master and sadly, the least taught.

A Foreign accent is the number one challenge restricting the open exchange of world-class solutions to global problems.  Some of the world’s greatest ideas are not being fully or clearly articulated simply because many EFL speakers feel inadequate or intimidated to speak up at meetings because of their foreign accent.

In this training, participants will:

• Discover strategies to manage their accent. Note that we refer to “accent management”, not accent elimination or reduction, because as long as the speaker speaks in accordance with the “sounds of English” and in harmony to the English-speaking ear, native speakers will easily understand foreign accents
• Understand the basic sound patterns of English
• Develop skills for speaking in harmony with the English-speaking ear
• Exercise key practical aspects including speaking speed, stress, intonation and pause
